Power Tellers

 We are speaking with afterschool programs in the Greater Capital Region to locate pilot
sites with the best fit for running the new Power Tellers program in Fall 2026! Stay

The Power Tellers program is a comprehensive14-week storytelling curriculum
designed to empower students through public speaking, performance skills, and
personal expression. Based on the Children at the Well program with its proven track
record of over twenty years, this new program is anchored by a detailed written
curriculum suitable for both in-classroom and after-school settings.
Power Tellers acquaints students with a variety of forms of storytelling and features
supportive story coaching. It fosters a community wherein students learn to craft and
deliver an effective message and confidently find their voice. By creating a creative,
expressive, and friendly environment, the program is designed to produce young
leaders comfortable in front of an audience and confident in advocating for issues
important to them. The program culminates in a showcase performance.

• Develop your Personal Voice: Students explore storytelling as a tool for
  personal expression and a means to publicly share their views on social issues
  important to them.

• Enhance your Communication & Performance Skills: Students learn
  performance and theatre skills to boost personal confidence, public speaking
  capacity, and ability to connect with an audience.

• Investigate Story Structure: Students learn how the "literary bones" of a story (e.g., Beginning, Middle, End; Exposition, Climax, Resolution) can make a
  narrative most impactful.

• Integrate Values: Students draw connections between personal experiences
  and universal human values.
